Riobamba Expreso
4 days - 3 nights
Quito-Cuenca
Tue - Thu - Sat
To see the country in a different way, take a different track, whether aboard the bright red coach car, attached to the end of the regular train, or aboard the unique autoferro (like a bus on rails). As train fanciers know, it is how you get there that matters.
In the early morning haze, the shrill train whistle announces the beginning of a trip back in time, with its own particular atmosphere and light. Slowly, the heavy metal wheels of the autoferro, a one car train, begin to move, starting one of the great adventures in the Ecuadorian Andes. The chilly plateau air wakes those who have decided to 'ride the roof'. As the red autoferro advances along the ancient railway, the mood aboard makes you adjust to another tempo, and leisurely enjoy the Andean region of Ecuador.
